The couple owned a lucrative jewelry shop on the first floor and occupied the top two levels as their lavish downtown residence. Mrs. Cohen lived and entertained here from the time of her marriage in 1897 until 1930 at the time of her death. She was well known around Nashville for her extravagant parties. The Cohen Building is a piece of history with longtime roots in the downtown Nashville community.

Today the historic 19th century Cohen building is home to Modern Trousseau, a couture bridal shop, on the first floor, the second floor is occupied with the corporate headquarters Giarratana Development and Premier Parking. In 2012 Sanders Pace Architectural firm was hired to restore the building and create a custom loft dwelling on the third floor. The third floor is now a stunning private vacation rental property boasting 5 bedrooms, 4 baths and sleeping capacity for up to 12 guests.
